Dallas Armstrong has 50 years of equine experience starting out on the family ranch. He later trained under former German Olympic horse trainer Fritz Weise over many years. Dallas contested in both Western and English, and equestrian hunter-jumpers for many years. He as contested professionally for over 40 years. He also trained and raced horses professionally at many horse tracks through out the midwest; Quad City Downs, Prairie Meadows, Cantaberry Downs, Fairmount Park, Maywood, Hawthorne and Sportsman. Today Dallas continues to break and train for multiple disciplines. Dallas has attended and participated in many clinics, seminars and hands on demonstrations with national professionals John Lyons, Richard Shrake, Pat Parelli, Dennis Reis, Gawan Pony boy, Monty Roberts, George Morris, William Steinkraus, Curt Pate, Erik Clarke, Clinton Anderson, Todd Minikus, Shawn Flarida, and Chris Cox. For more than 40 years Dallas has been a licensed professional horse trainer providing professional riding instruction to many students. He has also broke and trained more than 500 horses in his career. He is a member of AQHA, APHA, NSTA, USTA, ASHA, and QCABHA. When Dallas is not working with horses he enjoys his time on the ski slopes. Dallas skied professionally for many years. He had taught skiing and snowboarding in Colorado and Illinois. His ski career began when joined the national ski patrol at Eldora, Colorado. Later he advanced to instructor at Winter Park, Colorado. For ten years he was the ski director of winter sports at Chestnut in Galena, Illinois. He also instructed skiers and snowboarders at Snowstar in Andalusia, Illinois. Dallas can also be found enjoying down time with his daughter Tonya and her family. He particularly enjoys teaching his granddaughter Sophia about horses, and the other animals at the stables and passing on the passion he has for them. |
